Professional
Experience
In 2007 and
2008, before opening his
own practice, Damon worked as a
contract attorney for two experienced attorneys
in Littleton whose combined practice areas include
Family Law, Estate Planning, and Personal
Injury Law. Damon continues to work
closely with both of those attorneys, in addition
to working with his own clients.
In
2006, Damon worked at the United States
Bankruptcy Court, District of Colorado, as an judicial
intern. His experience there working on
Chapter 11 Bankruptcy cases, in addition to the
work described below as a researcher on Chapter 13
cases, has been invaluable in understanding both
Bankruptcy law and the many and complicated
reasons people seek bankruptcy relief.
Research
Projects
Prior to starting his practice, Damon
trained and supervised a number of other
researchers who labored to collect and manage data
from hundreds of Chapter 13 Bankruptcy cases
before and after the effective date of the 2005
Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer
Protection Act (BAPCPA). This data was
eventually used by Professors Bruce M. Price ,of
the University of San Francisco School of Law, and
Terry Dalton, of the University of Denver Graduate
School of International Studies and Daniels
College of Business. Their article From
Downhill to Slalom: An Empirical Analysis of the
Effectiveness of BAPCPA (and Some Unintended
Consequences) was published in the Yale
Law & Policy Review, Vol. 26, 2007.
